NEW DELHI: A delegation of BJP leaders on Wednesday met chief election commissioner Sunil Arora demanding action against the

AAP

for allegedly running a

misinformation

campaign and playing religious cards to disturb

communal harmony

in the capital.

Vijender Gupta, leader of the opposition in the Delhi assembly, went to meet the CEC along with South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and other party leaders and also submitted a memorandum.

Following the meeting, Gupta said his party had submitted more than a dozen complaints and three CDs against the call centres hired by AAP to mislead voters about deletion of names from the electoral roll and a copy of an FIR filed against the ruling party in Delhi for hurting religious sentiments.

“AAPis still running a misinformation campaign through its hired, funded and managed call centres. It is also trying to disturb communal harmony, peace and goodwill by playing religious cards. We have demanded strong deterrent action against CM Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders,” Gupta said.

BJP will soon call upon the police commissioner to ensure that the ongoing action against AAP’s call centres is taken to its logical conclusion, he added.

No Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson was available for comment.
