BJP accuses Kejriwal of voter fraud, says will complain to EC
NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Friday alleged that AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was trying to get large numbers of votes registered from the addresses of party workers in certain constituencies. "These votes are of people who do not stay in Delhi and will suddenly show up to cast their vote on the election day," he alleged.
Sachdeva said he requested an appointment with Election Commission and would soon file a complaint. The issue of voter addition and deletion has become a major point in the upcoming assembly polls, with AAP accusing BJP of getting votes deleted in its strongholds while BJP alleging that AAP was helping illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshis in Delhi become voters.
Sachdeva said that over the past four months, Kejriwal spent every morning accusing BJP. "Delhi cannot endure this any longer and people will liberate Delhi on Feb 5," he said. Kejriwal, who was released from jail under strict conditions set by Supreme Court, politically destroyed himself by not resigning on the same day, he claimed. "Typically, resignations from political posts are given straightforwardly, but Kejriwal made an unusual announcement claiming he would resign two days later."
Sachdeva claimed that making Atishi a "temporary chief minister" was an insult to constitutional norms and also displayed Kejriwal's patriarchal mindset". "By staging a two-seat drama in chief minister's office, Kejriwal tarnished the dignity of the constitutional position of CM."
Kejriwal, the BJP functionary claimed, even tried to play the "victim card" by pretending attacks were being planned on him. However, this time the false narrative didn't gain traction, he said. He alleged that when people celebrated New Year, Kejriwal tried to disrupt communal harmony in Delhi by spreading false news about lieutenant governor demolishing temples. He also tried to provoke the Jat community politically, but BJP's Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Kailash Gahlot exposed his betrayal of the community, Sachdeva said.
AAP did not respond to the allegations.
