Dr KD Singh, MP Rajya Sabha, has been felicitated with the 'One of the Best Global Indians in the World' award at the Global Indian Excellence Summit 2014 held in London on July 21. The award recognizes Singh's role as the founder of the KD Singh Foundation (KDSF) that endeavours to bring in a much needed change in the society, especially in the field of women empowerment.

The award has lauded the foundation for setting up a support cell for rape victims in the state of Haryana. This cell has provided support to 150 victims.
Dr Singh was unable to attend the event in London due to his prior commitments. He addressed the august gathering through an audio-visual. He said that it was an honour to be recognized as one of the best Global Indians in the world.
He said, "Change has to germinate within us, and the KD Singh Foundation came into being out of my concerns over rising incidents of crime in India, particularly against women."
Singh called upon everyone to join him in the effort to mitigate the gender gap in the society.
The Global Indian Excellence Awards is a platform to applaud the most powerful and successful people of Indian origin.
This initiative, pioneered by the World Consulting and Research Corporation, recognizes pioneers and promising achievers in the field of business, entertainment, sports, philanthropy, arts and literature.
Ernst & Young, India, were the process advisors for the Global Indian Excellence Awards selection process. Luminaries who attended the event include Lord Swraj Paul, Mr Billimoria, Ms Priti Patel MP British Parliament and others.
