AAP claims BJP trying to bribe MLAs, latter threatens legal action
New Delhi: AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh on Thursday alleged that BJP was bribing legislators of AAP to jump ship ahead of the Delhi assembly election results.Singh claimed that BJP had called up seven AAP MLAs who have contested the Delhi elections and offered them Rs 15 crore each to join the BJP.Hitting back, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that Singh must not forget that chief minister Atishi was out on bail in a case against her for making similar false allegations against BJP. He said that the allegations were a result of Singh's frustration as he knows his party was about to lose the assembly polls.AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal piled similar allegations as Singh on X when he said: "Some agencies are showing that the abusive party is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will make them ministers and will give Rs 15 crore to each of them."He asked: "If the party (BJP) is getting more than 55 seats, then what is the need for him to call our candidates? Obviously, these fake surveys have been conducted with the sole purpose of creating this atmosphere to break down some candidates. But you abusive people, not even one of our men will break down."Sachdeva said that ever since the announcement of the assembly elections, it has been evident that Kejriwal and other AAP functionaries were panicking about their seemingly inevitable defeat. "The frustration of the AAP functionaries after being rejected by the public in polling is now clearly visible, and in their desperation, they have resorted to making baseless accusations," he said. The Delhi BJP chief said that Singh should either withdraw his allegations and apologise to BJP or be prepared to face legal action. Singh. on the other hand, said: "They call it ‘Operation Lotus' or other names, but the intent remains the same." He said that AAP has already alerted its MLAs. He said, "If they receive such calls, they must record them. If someone meets them with an offer, they should use a hidden camera to record the conversation and expose it."Singh said BJP had already conceded defeat. "Since this morning, we have been in discussions with our MLAs and candidates, and several said to me that they got offers," he said.
