The accused, Pramod Kumar, a resident of Haripur Tongia village, told police that the victim often asked him for sexual relations and, upon refusal, taunted him by calling him impotent. He claimed a similar incident occurred on Friday, which enraged him.

In retaliation, Kumar took the victim to a sugarcane field, beat him up, and inserted a sugarcane stalk into his rectum. Hearing his cries, nearby field workers rushed to the spot, prompting Kumar to flee into the nearby forest. The victim was taken to a local hospital but died due to excessive bleeding.

Inspector Bhagwan Singh Mahar told TOI, "We arrested Kumar during a combing operation in the forest at night. He was presented before the court on Saturday and sent to judicial custody."

Police have registered a case under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) based on a complaint filed by the victim's brother.
