The CM added that the personnel department has already been directed to draft a policy in this regard. Dhami also requested other states to follow the proposal being prepared by Uttarakhand.

"After four years of military service, Agniveers would be a natural fit for the police department, the state disaster response force and the disaster management department. We also have plans to recruit some Agniveers for Char Dham duty. In addition to these avenues, the personnel department is also exploring other areas where we can use this talent pool," said CM Dhami.

According to officials privy to the development, the authorities of the personnel department would hold discussions with officials of other government departments to decide the required educational qualification for the recruitment of Aginveers.

Dhami hailed the Agnipath scheme as an excellent opportunity for the youth of Uttarakhand. He said, "Our state is hailed as the "sainik dham" as every household produces at least one defence personnel. I am confident that our youth will greatly benefit from the Agnipath scheme." The CM added, "Through this scheme, youth will find a job at an early age. This will make them disciplined and confident in life. Channelising this energy in the right direction will help in nation-building. I have received an overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the scheme from the youth of our state."
