Retired employee of defence ministry duped of Rs 12 lakh in Almora village

Almora: A former employee of the ministry of defence, living in Almora's Dwarahat town, was duped of Rs 12 lakh online. The accused -- hailing from Sambal (Uttar Pradesh) -- forged the victim's Aadhaar card to buy a Vodafone-Idea SIM. Subsequently, they downloaded the YONO app -- SBI's mobile banking app.

According to police, the accused swindled Rs 12 lakh between January 10 and 19. The loot money was put in different bank accounts.

Police have so far arrested three persons -- 23-year-old Amroha-resident Dheeraj Kumar, 34-year-old Chandausi-resident Vishesh Sharma, and 20-year-old Delhi-resident Rovin Thakur. Further probe is underway.
