DEHRADUN

: In a noble move, the police officials have announced to extend help to locals during the “Janata Curfew” on Sunday. Senior police officials of the city have assured that they would ensure availability of necessary goods and ambulance services for Doonites on the day. Previously, the district officials had also announced that those who call for help during Janata Curfew will be attended to.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Janata Curfew this Sunday had raised apprehensions among Doonites that they won’t be able to avail any essential service on the day. However, the assurance by local officials has brought relief for the city residents.

Colonel RP Singh, a resident of

Defence Colony

, told TOI, “The house owners in the colony are taking every possible measure to stay safe and have self-quarantined ourselves. The help offered by

Doon Police

is a very welcome step.”

Nalin Rastogi, a resident of Shipra Vihar, said, “The administration is doing the best it can to help us follow the Janata Curfew. We appreciate the assurance given by the officials that they will provide people with necessary commodities on Sunday. The move will greatly help senior citizens.”

Besides government departments, some social organisations have also offered to help the senior citizens during Janata Curfew on Sunday and have issued a

helpline

number for them. One such organisation Apna Asra

Welfare Society

has released helpline numbers for different localities — Race Course (9790446512), Premnagar (8630558639), Subhash Nagar (9639144882).
