DEHRADUN : Around 60 employees of lower rung level of
Raphael Ryder Cheshire International Centre
have gone on strike by boycotting work to demand
salary hike and better grade scale
. The governing council has formed a committee to look into the grievances and come up with solution.
According to sources, the employees are not happy with the salary hike which is lesser than the previous year. They are demanding better
hike and grade scale
and, have boycotted work to put pressure onto the management.
Brigadier Arun Bhatnagar, director of the Centre told TOI, "We are
charitable organization
to look after intellectually challenged children, tuberculosis and leprosy patients living in our centre. Just by refusing to resume work, the employees of class III and IV level are adversely affecting the prime purpose for which the Raphael Centre exists. They must understand that we are not corporate. However, now special educators as well as students of diploma courses are managing affairs which is indeed not the best situation."
He said, the employees on strike are not relenting. They have given a memorandum demanding hike in
pay scale and grade structure
to the authorities which has been accepted.
"Raphael Centre is run by the Chairman under the Society Act. A governing council control it. So the chairman has constituted a committee a day before which will address the issue duly approved by the council for implementation. But since the issue will take longer time to settle, so for the time being we would give interim relief to the employees with some hike so that they can return to work," he said.
