Congress list of 40 campaigners has Punjabi stars, those denied ticket

DEHRADUN

: After the BJP, the ruling Congress on Friday came out with its list of 40 star campaigners, which had several Punjabi leaders apart from Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi.

With an apparent eye on the Uttarakhand’s Punjabi population, which is scattered in the plains of the state, the Congress has roped in former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, party’s Punjab unit chief Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu.

However, unlike Uttar Pradesh, the name of Priyanka Vadra is missing from the list.

The list also has a number of members who were denied tickets for the 2017 assembly elections.
