DEHRADUN: Senior advocate and

Swaraj Abhiyan leader Prashant Bhushan

on Thursday accused the

BJP-led Central government

of undermining the

anti-graft institutions

, and alleged that the

saffron party

was a “big threat” to the Constitution and democracy.

“BJP is bigger threat to the Constitution and democracy than Congress. BJP is destroying all the anti-corruption institutions and education institutions. Unqualified RSS men are being posted on key positions, which is extremely dangerous and a big threat for the democracy of the country,” Bhushan said here.

The former AAP leader also accused the BJP of trying to make minorities “second class” citizen.

“If anyone speaks against them (BJP), they have teams of goons and senas, who attack these people,” he said.

“BJP is now giving tickets to hardcore criminals and gangsters,” he said in Dehradun.

Bhushan also extended support for independent candidate Nirmala Bisht-- who participated in the Uttarakhand statehood agitation and is in the fray from Raipur assembly constituency of Dehradun.

Bisht has barely Rs 13,000 cash in hand, according to her affidavit.

She is taking on a number of political heavyweights, especially Congress rebel Umesh Sharma Kau, who is the BJP candidate from the constituency.
Over 40 people have donated small amounts to Bisht to help her in the electioneering process.

Bhushan said that he was supporting Bisht to counter BJP, whose “DNA is infused with communalism.”

Bhushan added, “While Congress is thoroughly corrupt, the BJP poses a bigger threat. Congress does not have communalism in its DNA, they have at times been opportunistically communal. But BJP’s DNA is communal.”
