(retired) has given his consent to Bhagat's appointment as the protem speaker. Bhagat was the parliamentary affairs minister in the Pushkar Singh Dhami government. Before that, he served as the BJP state chief during the Trivendra Singh Rawat government. The name of the assembly speaker is likely to be announced in the first session of Uttarakhand's fifth assembly.
