Cuttack: Orissa HC on Thursday deferred hearing of the petition seeking quashing of the FIR registered against the Army officer’s fiancée to Oct 3. The single judge bench of Justice A K Mohapatra directed the crime branch to submit the woman’s medical report from AIIMS on that day. TNN

The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on a plea seeking review of its 2022 verdict on the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to October 16. The Centre cited not receiving all petitions as the reason for delay. Petitioners are challenging provisions that grant extensive powers to the Enforcement Directorate.

Court defers hearing on Jaranges plea in cheating case till Oct 19

A Pune magisterial court has postponed the hearing in the 2013 cheating case involving Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange and two others. The state prosecution asked for additional time until October 19 to submit a written response to Jarange's discharge plea. The charges include cheating and criminal breach of trust under sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Final hearing on plea against ex-Cong MLAs on Oct 3 & 4

Goa legislative assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar stated that the final hearing on the disqualification petition against eight former Congress MLAs who joined BJP is scheduled for October 3 and 4. The Supreme Court has instructed that a decision be reached before November 4. Congress had filed the petition in September 2022.
