HC stays order on job to man with low vision

Cuttack: The Orissa high court on Saturday stayed the judgment of a single-judge bench directing the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to recommend a candidate with low vision for the post of assistant agriculture engineer (AAE).
The two-judge bench of Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra and Justice Savitri Ratho issued the interim order on an appeal by the OPSC challenging the May 1 judgment.
The single-judge bench had passed the judgment in the case of Biswajit Panda who was allowed to participate in the selection process for the post of AAE. When the appeal was heard on Saturday, OPSC’s counsel Bibhu Prasad Tripathy pointed out that Panda was not selected as a resolution passed by the general administration department on December 3, 2013, did not include the visually handicapped category in the functional classification for AAE.
