Two held for robberies in Annur

COIMBATORE: The rural police arrested two people on Monday for their involvement in two burglaries in Annur and seized 25 sovereigns of gold jewels and a car from them.

The accused were identified as C Premkumar, 27 of Vadakkupatti, Uthamapalayam in

Theni district

and Suganya, 22, wife of Eswaran, from Uthamapalayam.

On Monday around 7am, while conducting vehicle checks, a police team stopped a white maruthi car. “The driver of the car tried to escape leaving behind the woman passenger. However, we nabbed him. On questioning, both of them admitted to stealing gold ornaments from two houses in Annur,” said the officer.

The police recovered the jewels. They produced the accused before a judicial magistrate and later remanded them in judicial custody.
