Three people murdered in separate incidents
Coimbatore: Three people were murdered in separate incidents in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts in the past couple of days.A 92-year-old man was murdered by his mentally challenged son at Senjeriputhur near Sulthanpet in Coimbatore district on Tuesday morning. N Gopalsamy was residing at a house with his son G Murugesh, 50, who had separated from his wife about 10 years ago.Police said on Tuesday morning, Gopalsamy’s daughter, who visits them every morning to cook breakfast and lunch for them, came to the house and found her father in a pool of blood. Murugesh was sitting beside. She alerted neighbours who informed the Sulthanpet police. Police secured Murugesh and sent the body to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for a postmortem.Police said Murugesh attacked Gopalsamy with a boti knife. The body had nine cut injuries. After postmortem, it was handed over to the family. Police said Murugesh will be hospitalised based on a court order.An unidentified woman, aged 35-40 years, was found murdered inside the stormwater drain on Mangalam Road in Avinashi on Monday.Police said the woman had dinner at a mess in the locality around 6.30pm on Sunday and was sitting in front of the mess till 10pm. Before shutting shop, mess owner Amudha Devi asked the woman to stay under the bypass road flyover to sleep, to which she didn’t oblige.When Amudha returned to the mess on Monday morning, she noticed blood stains in front of the shop. She followed the trail of blood stains and found the unidentified woman dead inside the stormwater drain near the flyover. She informed the Avinashi police who rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Avinashi government hospital for a postmortem.On perusing CCTV camera footage in the locality, police found a man dropping a stone on the head of the woman and then dragging her body and dumping it inside the stormwater drain.The man was identified as Vicky, a private ambulance driver from Palani. Sources said he had sexually assaulted the woman. Police are investigating.A 40-year-old man was murdered by his catering work partner at Grey Town junction in Coimbatore city on Sunday night. G Rajesh, 40, from Gandhi Nagar at Valparai was running a tea shop at Grey Town junction. He, along with Benny from Kerala, often took catering work on contract. The two had a business-related dispute and Benny attacked Rajesh with a wooden log on his head. Rajesh died on the spot and Benny escaped to Kerala. The Race Course police registered a case and sent a team to Thrissur in Kerala to nab Benny.
