Coimbatore: Residents of a gated community at Arisipalayam in Madukkarai taluk sought the intervention of the district administration on Monday to resolve a land dispute.
In their petition to Coimbatore collector G S Sameeran, the residents said the compound wall of the gated community was demolished by Gowrishankar, a farmer who claimed that the residents had encroached on his land. The revenue department favoured the farmer by allowing the demolition of the wall, they said and sought the collector’s intervention in the matter.
As many as 70 families have been staying in the gated community for the past eight years, said Manikandan, a resident. “The wall was demolished despite a court ruling against it. The court had asked for reports regarding the issue. But the farmer demolished it before the court pronounced the judgment,” he said.TNN
