Corpn seizes 160kg banned plastic items

Coimbatore: The city corporation’s health wing seized around 160kg of banned plastic in the first week of March. Officials said they were keeping a close vigil on the use of banned plastic in commercial areas.A team led by sanitary inspector A Salaith is ensuring implementation of the plastic ban. The team has been seizing anywhere between 30kg and 40kg of banned plastic items every day over the past one month. The civic body changed its approach to control banned plastic by focusing on wholesale traders and curbing their supply of plastic bags to roadside vendors. tnn
