COIMBATORE: Members of the All India Democratic Women's Association (

AIDWA

) petitioned Coimbatore superintendent of

police

R Pandiarajan on Thursday, urging him to reinvestigate all women suicide cases reported from

Pollachi

and surround areas since 2012.

A four-member gang, led by Thirunavukkarasu of Makkinampatti near Pollachi, was arrested by police few days ago for harassing a college girl and taking obscene videos of her inside a car.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang allegedly had taken obscene videos and photographs of many women and harassed them. But none of the victims came forward to lodge a complaint with police.

An AIDWA team led by its district president A Radhika petitioned the SP and said a woman police officer should be appointed to investigate the cases.

"Women suicide cases reported from Pollachi and surrounding areas should be reinvested by police as the victims might have taken the extreme step due to the gang's threat. We are going to approach the Madras high court to get an order to transfer the casess to the CB-CID police from Coimbatore rural police," said Radhika.
