Youth drowns in Krishna canal in Chennai

CHENNAI: An 18-year-old college student drowned in Krishna canal in Tiruvallur district on Saturday. His body was recovered from the lake on Sunday.
Police said Immanuel from Pattabiram, who was pursuing B Tech degree at a private college near Poonamallee, was washed away by strong currents in the canal. His friends had taken him for a get-together near the canal.They decided to take a swim in the water body but Immanuel drowned, police said.
Police have registered a case and are conducting the investigation.
