CHENNAI: The Chennai city police on Friday stopped around 100
BJP workers who tried to proceed from the city to
Tiruttani
in separate vehicles to participate in party’s
Vetrivel Yatra
that was scheduled to begin from there.
The Tamil Nadu government has not given permission for the yatra.

The police allowed the vehicles of BJP state president L Murugan and 20 others to proceed while others returned to the city. No case was registered.

At least 500 police personnel were deployed at Tiruttani to prevent BJP workers gathering in large groups. The Tiruvallur district police have reserved three marriage halls in detain BJP workers.
