Medical College and Hospital (TVMCH). Police said the man, identified as Selvam, was in an inebriated condition when he jumped from the bus on April 5.
Selvam was a driver from Kovaikulam near Moondradaippu in Tirunelveli district. He was a
DMK cadre and was upset over the delay in forming the CMB.
On April 5, he came to Tirunelveli to take part in protests by DMK members as part of a state-wide bandh. After taking part in the protests, he was travelling from the Tirunelveli to Kovaikulam in a private bus.
He sat on one of the seats on the last row and was talking about the CMB issue with fellow passengers. Suddenly, he raised slogans against the Centre and jumped from the bus through the backdoor when the vehicle was nearing
Tuckerammalpuram
on the outskirts of the city. Selvam hit a parapet and fell unconscious.
The man suffered multiple fractures. He also suffered injuries on his forehead and multiple internal and external injuries.
Selvam was rushed to the TVMCH where he was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. On Monday morning, he succumbed to his injuries.
