TN elections results: ‘I will be true to you,’ Stalin assures people of Tamil Nadu
COIMBATORE: DMK president M K Stalin has thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for voting his party to power.
“I thank Tamil people for directing the DMK for the sixth time to govern the state,” he said in a statement on Sunday evening.
He said the voters had extended their support to the DMK alliance realising that the wellness of the state and its people would be guaranteed if governance was left to his party.
“I will be true to you. I will work for you. My thoughts and actions would always be for the people of Tamil Nadu,” he said.
He said the poll victory was a validation of the good work done by the DMK as a ruling party as well as a social movement for more than 50 years. Noting that allegations and abuses were hurled on DMK and that the party was subjected to trials and tribulations, Stalin said he thanked the people of Tamil Nadu once again for voting his party to power.
Stalin said that he had wanted to bring back the rule of ‘Kazhagam’ when his father M Karunanidhi had been alive. “Unfortunately that didn’t happen. But we worked hard every day to fulfil that dream. This victory given by the people is a recognition to out hard work,’’ he said.
“I thank DMK party cadre who worked hard for this victory. I extend my gratitude to the cadres, functionaries and leaders of our alliance parties who stood by us not as political allies but as ideological allies. I also thank all those who wished me for achieving this victory.”
“Kazhagam has won today. Tamil Nadu will win henceforth,’’ he said.
