Tamil Nadu school reopening date postponed
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu school education minister Raj Mohan on Tuesday announced that schools for the academic year 2026–2027 would reopen for all classes uniformly on June 4. This is applicable to all schools, including govt, govt-aided, matriculation and private schools.
Earlier, the school education department had announced that schools reopen on June 1 for classes IV to XII and on June 4 for classes I to III.
The minister’s announcement comes after parents, teachers and various stakeholders sought a uniform reopening date for all classes in order to ensure administrative convenience and to avoid difficulties faced by families having children studying in different classes, according to a release.
