has criticised the
Tamil Nadu government for its failure to stimulate economic growth in the state and create sufficient jobs.
In a statement on Tuesday, he said according to the state employment exchange statistics as of April 30, 81.18 lakh people were waiting for jobs.
In the last ten years, he said, 14 million people had been registered in the employment exchange. However, only two and a half lakh people had been hired by government and public sector enterprises, he said.
From 2007 onwards, more than 49 lakh people had registered in the employment exchanges, he said, adding that if “one includes the new registrations and deducts the number of people who have got jobs, the balance should be 1.87 crore.”
“However, only 81.18 lakh people only are still registered. Which means over 10 million people have chosen not to renew their registration,” he said.
He added that several multinationals and industries are choosing to set up facilities at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh and in Telangana. He said in these states, they did not have to pay bribes. They received licences in two weeks.
Ramadoss said public sector units like NLC in Tamil Nadu should reserve jobs for locals.
