Students, parents anxious about delay in CBSE Class XII revaluation results
Chennai: Kefira, a CBSE Class XII student from the city, says two pages from her maths answer sheet were not scanned and the copy had repeated pages. She was hoping to secure 195 out of 200 cut-off marks for engineering admissions. However, she got only 187 out of 200 cut-off marks and anxiously awaits her revaluation results to secure a seat in a top engineering college.
She is not just one student. Hundreds of city students who were not happy with their marks in Class XII maths, physics exams have applied for revaluation of answer scripts. However, they are not sure when the revaluation results would come as the board is receiving applications till Saturday, and teachers said the revaluation is yet to start.
“We were asked to assemble at the revaluation centre for two days in a row. However, the centre authorities asked us to go as they did not get the link to the answer scripts. We are not sure whether the revaluation would be finished on time and results will come before the release of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) rank list on June 29,” a teacher from a city school who called for revaluation of CBSE Class XII answer scripts said.
Anitha, a maths teacher from a city school, said students who were expecting full marks have got scores around 80 marks to 85 marks. “Teachers did not award marks to the steps that were not known to them. CBSE students were preparing for JEE and have solved the questions in different ways. These things would have been avoided in the physical evaluation of answer scripts as they would have consulted with others or the chief examiners,” she said.
Some teachers said more students have applied for revaluation of answer scripts this year, and completing it before June would be tough.
Last year, TNEA received more than 27,000 applications from CBSE students. This year also, more than 25,000 CBSE Class XII students are expected to apply for the engineering counselling.
Many parents asked the TNEA committee to postpone the release of the engineering rank list till the declaration of CBSE Class XII revaluation results this year.
As of Friday, which is the last day to apply for the engineering counselling, TNEA has received 2,43,476 applications.
