CM M K Stalin takes note of bad roads in Tamil Nadu
“I have been receiving continuous complaints about bad roads in Chennai and its suburban areas. Similarly, roads in various districts are also damaged resulting in drivers facing hardships and minor accidents,” said Stalin.
“The roads were damaged not just due to storm water drainage work, Metro water work, metro rail and Tangedco projects but in general, the roads are in bad shape due to lack of proper maintenance. The situation should change and good quality roads should be laid at the earliest,” said Stalin.
He also directed all the departments concerned to ensure that quality roads are laid at the earliest.
Stalin also gave a host of instructions to officials on monsoon preparedness such as keeping all the essentials ready in relief camps, to complete the pending storm water drainage works, to get climate information without any delay, etc.
Stalin chairs northeast monsoon preparedness meet
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin chaired a meeting to discuss preparedness for the upcoming northeast monsoon season. The meeting focused on ongoing storm water drain projects, manpower mobilization for disaster management, and ensuring boats and motors are ready. Senior ministers, including K N Nehru, the Minister of Municipal Administration and Water Supply, attended the meeting.
CM: Ensure proper road maintenance
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of Bihar has instructed officials from the rural works department to ensure that maintenance of rural roads is carried out solely by departmental engineers and not contractors. He also emphasized the need for the early recruitment of engineers and other technical employees to properly execute the maintenance works. Kumar believes that having departmental engineers handle maintenance will not only reduce costs but also create new job opportunities. Additionally, he asked officials to assess the rural roads that require widening and to prioritize the completion of restoration work on damaged roads.
HC orders notice on bad condition of new roads

A public interest litigation was filed by C Rajakumaran, who stated that the roads were not laid according to norms.
