Northeast monsoon: Minister holds review meeting in Chennai

CHENNAI: Minister of municipal administration and water supply K N Nehru held a review meeting in Chennai on Tuesday in the wake of the onset of northeast monsoon.

A total of 845 motor pumps are kept ready to pump out water during stagnation. These pumps include high efficiency diesel engine motor pumps, electrical submersible motor pumps, motor pumps of various horsepower and motor pumps with tractors.

As many as 446 disaster recovery vehicles and machinery, including mobile tree-cutters, telescopic pruners, garbage tractors, JCBs, bobcat machines, robotic multi-purpose machines, are kept ready at Urbesar-Sumeet's office in Lloyd's Colony.

Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner Dr J Radhakrishnan inspected the machines on Tuesday.
