CHENNAI: Active cases tally in Tamil Nadu crossed the 500-mark on Thursday to 517 when the state reported 86 new cases of the viral infection.
The state drew samples from 3,162 people for RTPCR and the weekly positivity crossed 2% on Thursday.
Chennai reported 19 new cases, followed by 12 in Chengalpet, eight each in Salem and Coimbatore and five each in Krishnagiri, Madurai and Tiruvallur. While Erode reported three new cases, 17 other districts in the state reported between one and two new cases.
One passenger from Oman tested positive during the random test at the Chennai airport. Among 517 active cases, 16 of them were in hospitals and none required oxygen support or intensive care.
