Justice D Krishnakumar appointed Acting Chief Justice of Madras high court

CHENNAI: Senior judge of the Madras high court Justice D Krishnakumar has been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the HC after the elevation of incumbent ACJ Justice R Mahadevan to the Supreme Court.

Justice Krishnakumar would perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the HC, a notification issued by the Union law ministry said.

Justice Krishnakumar, a native of Dharapuram, enrolled as an advocate in 987. He served as a govt advocate for the HC from 1991 to 1996.

He served as an additional central govt standing counsel from 1998 to 99 and as a special govt pleader from 2001 to 2006. He has extensive practice in civil, criminal and writ jurisdiction. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the HC on April 7, 2016.
