Jallikattu season begins

The jallikattu season kicked off with 460 bulls and 290 tamers participating in Thatchankurichi, Pudukottai district.

Injuries reported

20 individuals, including spectators and tamers, were injured. Nine required advanced medical treatment.

Ministers S Reghupathy and Siva V Meyyanathan inaugurated the event, which drew over 4,500 spectators.

Best Bull and Tamer awards

Muthusamy’s bull won “Best Bull,” and Sridharan was named “Best Bull Tamer,” both receiving motorbikes as prizes.

Confrontation over VIP access

A confrontation over unauthorized access to the stage and VIP area disrupted the event but was resolved by police.

Organisers and supervision

The event, celebrating the St Vinnorpa Annai church festival, was organised by Don Bosco youth club and supervised by over 300 personnel.
