CHENNAI: Campaigning for the May 16 assembly election in Tamil Nadu will heat up in the coming days, especially on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, Congress and DMK leaders including Sonia Gandhi and M Karunanidhi will address a joint public meeting on Marina Beach in Chennai.
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister J Jayalalithaa will campaign in the city. Modi will address a public meeting in support of party candidates at YMCA Grounds, Nandanam.
Chief minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa will go on a road show in her R K Nagar constituency. Jayalalithaa will address five roadside meetings -- on Jeevarathinam Road, Market Street, Vaidhyanathan Bridge, J J Nagar and Manali Road.
According to a press release issued by the AIADMK headquarters, Jayalalithaa’s tour programme has been revised and there is a one-day gap between each public meeting outside the city.
On Thursday, she will address a public meeting at Perundurai in Erode district introducing 14 candidates in the region and the next meeting will be on May 8, when she will address a public meeting in Thanjavur introducing 18 candidates.
Jayalalithaa will address at Arakkonam on May 10 introducing 17 candidates. On May 12, she will address a public meeting in Tirunelveli introducing 20 candidates from three districts.
