The Union home minsister addressed a huge rally in the temple town of Rameswaram, in Ramanathapuram, before flagging off Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai's five-month-long "Enn Mann, Enn Makkal (My Land, My People)" padayatra. Before flagging off the padayatra, Amit Shah came down hard on INDIA, saying leaders in the alliance had different aspirations.

"Sonia Gandhi (Congress leader) wants Rahul Gandhi (Congress leader) to become Prime Minister. (Tamil Nadu chief minister) M K Stalin wants (sports minister) Udhayanidhi Stalin to become the chief minister. (Former Bihar chief minister) Lalu-ji wants (Bihar deputy chief minister) Tejashwi to become chief minister, (West Bengal chief minister) Mamata didi wants her son-in-law (Abhishek Banerjee) to become the CM. They do not want India or Tamil Nadu to get empowered but only their family members," he said.
