AIADMK general body meet: Massive traffic jams in Chennai

CHENNAI: Traffic came to a standstill for nearly 5 kms surrounding the Srivari Kalyana Mandapam at Vanagaram, where the AIADMK general body's crucial meeting is being held on Thursday.

The vehicles moved at a snail's pace leaving the motorists in a lurch. Many office-goers and school children got stuck in the slow moving traffic.


An ambulance also got stuck in traffic jam near Aminjikarai where cops had to rush in and struggle to streamline the vehicles.

Traffic came to a standstill on roads in Aminjikarai, Poonamallee High Road, Maduravoyal, Vadapalani, Thiruverkadu. At Vanagaram, some of the vehicles were parked on the roadside making several roads narrow.

“We were expecting minor traffic jams today, but never thought it would be so worse. We are stuck here for more than 30 minutes. They should have considered streamlining traffic taking into account the plight of office goers,” said Sangeetha, employed at a private firm.
