CHENNAI: Nearly 2,000 chefs will participate in 20 categories in the 6th edition of the Culinary Challenge of the South Indian Chef Association endorsed by the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS). The event will be held at Chennai Trade Centre from September 15 to 17.
The main objective of the event is to establish a professional platform for culinary professionals in India to showcase their individual and collective skills and their creative talent.
Some of the competition categories are individual artistic display competition, individual cold display competition, practical live cooking competition, cocktail/mocktail competition and table cover display/layout contest.
The national jury consists of members such as chef Manjit Singh Gill, president, IFCA, chef Vijaya Baskaran, general secretary, IFCA, chef Vinod Bhati, Indian Culinary Federation, chef Arvind Rai, executive chef ITC Ashoka, Delhi, and others.
The international jury has chef Thomas A Gugler, president of World Chefs Germany, chef Gerard Mendis, chairman, of Chefs Guild of Lanka, chef Mooroogun Coopen, president of Mauritian Chefs Association, chef Daniel Schade, president of Association of Chefs Germany, chef Dimuthu Kumarasinghe, assistant vice-president food and beverage, Aitken Spence Hotel, and others.
