Chandigarh: The
Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has informed the
Punjab and Haryana high court that it would conduct the examination of assistant district attorney (ADA) in Hindi as well. Earlier, the commission had said English would be the only mode of examination.
A formal statement in this regard was made before the HC by the state counsel. With this, the HC has disposed of the petition challenging the ADA examination selection process.
The matter had reached the HC in the wake of a petition filed by
Abhishek Malhotra and others, challenging the mode of selection for the post of ADA announced by the HPSC through its April 12 publication, giving the details of the selection process.
The petitioners had also sought directions to the commission to hold the examination for the aforesaid posts in both in English and Hindi.
“After going through the reply filed by the commission, the petitioners’s counsel very fairly does not press his first prayer. So far as the second prayer is concerned, the Advocate General, Haryana, who also appears for the commission, submitted that the examination for the posts in question shall be conducted by the HPSC in both languages i.e. in English as well as in Hindi. The afore statement satisfies the learned counsel for the petitioners qua his second prayer also,” observed Justice Deepak Sibal of the HC in its order while disposing of the matter.
