Shimla: Himachal Pradesh govt on Sunday organised a farewell ceremony in honour of governor
Shiv Pratap Shukla at Peterhoff in Shimla. Lady governor Janaki Shukla was also present on the occasion.
Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu honoured the governor and the lady governor by presenting them with traditional shawls, Himachali caps and mementoes as a mark of respect and gratitude.

Addressing the gathering, the governor said that it was an emotional moment for him to bid farewell to the Devbhoomi of Himachal Pradesh as he moved on to assume a new responsibility. "When one works in a state or a region, it is natural to develop an attachment to that place.
But my experience with Himachal Pradesh was truly special. Himachal is not only Devbhoomi but also a ‘Prem Bhoomi'. The people here are simple, sincere and full of warmth," he said.
Expressing gratitude for the affection he received during his tenure, the governor said that he was leaving the state with cherished memories of the love and cooperation extended by the people. "I am grateful for the support I received from all political parties, social and cultural organisations, and from the officers and employees of the govt," he remarked.
Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, "As governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla carried out his responsibilities with dignity, sensitivity and dedication. His conduct and decisions upheld the spirit and sanctity of the Constitution and enhanced the prestige of the constitutional office," he said.
The chief minister said that under the governor's leadership, Lok Bhavan became a responsive centre connected with public concerns, spreading a message of goodwill and cooperation among different sections of society.
