Bathinda: Punjab BJP president Ashwani Kumar Sharma on Sunday said Punjab was “set to lose a lot” on account of not providing land for the mega textile park.
With the textile park, the state’s industry would have got a push. It would also have helped in generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
It is only due to lopsided policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government that Punjab lost an opportunity to take the textile industry to world level, he said.
Sharma said the state was continuously losing on tax collection as money from the GST was decreasing due to industry’s flight.
He stressed the need for standing by the industry and providing facilities to attract the industry’s return to Punjab. Sharma, accompanied by vice-presidents Mona Jaiswal and Arvind Khanna, was in Bathinda to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bathinda district president Sarup Chand Singla.
“Before gaining power, the AAP had promised Rs 20,000 per acre compensation for crop loss, but the farmers have so far failed to get anything, he said.
