BJP president Ashwani Kumar Sharma said that Punjab was "set to lose a lot" because the state had not provided land for the Mega Textile Park. The Textile Park would have helped to generate thousands of jobs, and the state would have been able to take the industry to world level. However, because of lopsided policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Punjab lost an opportunity to take the textile industry to world level. Sharma said that the state was losing money on tax collection, and that the industry was fleeing because of the lack of facilities. He stressed the need for the state to stand by the industry and provide the necessary support.
