CHANDIGARH: Six people were killed as a speeding car rammed into a wrongly parked stationary-laden truck on the roadside near Sherla village of Bhiwani district in Haryana.
The deceased included five occupants of the car and an attendant of the truck.
The incident took place during late night hours on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday when all the occupants of the car were on the way to Behel from Bhungla village via Bhiwani-Behel road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the car was speeding while the truck driver did not use any precaution like turning on the parking lights or putting reflector at some distance.
As a result, the car directly rammed into the truck killing five occupants as well as the truck attendant who was below the truck.
The deceased occupants of the car were identified as Naseeb aka Molarh, Vikas, both residents of Budhara, Pradeep Kumar of Ladiyali, Ravi of Idiwali village in Bhiwani and Jitender Singh of Barwala suburban town in Hisar.
The impact was so powerful that the villagers could hear the collision sound.
Meanwhile, villagers rushed to the spot for rescue and relief.
The villagers had to use gas cutters as well as cranes to take out the car occupants.
According to police, four occupants were found dead, while one died on the way to hospital and one had succumbed to injuries during the treatment.
Police have initiated the inquest proceedings and shifted the bodies to civil hospital.
"Investigations have begun and we are examining the spot details and a case will be registered against the driver who is on the run as of now," said the police spokesman.
