Sidhu to CM: ‘Cut drama’

Chandigarh: Reacting to chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s refusal to the Z+ security cover offered by the Union home ministry, congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday asked him to “cut the drama”, pointing out that he was already the most protected CM Punjab had ever seen.The cricketer-turned-politician had recently criticised the state government for downgrading his security cover from the Z+ category and pruning the count of personnel assigned to him. Sidhu has also approached the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking directions to enhance his security cover in view of the threat to his life and liberty. The high court on May 23 had reserved the order on Sidhu’s plea.Targeting the chief minister, Sidhu tweeted: “Stop Masquerading @BhagwantMann...1000 commandos guarding you and your family... Equivalent to 10 Z+ Securities... You're the most protected CM Punjab has ever seen... Cut your drama... Are you fooling the people of Punjab or trying to take this plea to the court to scuttle other people’s security... your arrogance stands tall... No lessons learnt from Sidhu Moosewala’s Murder (sic).” The Congress leader further reminded Mann that he had promised to finish the VIP Culture and vowed to decrease security cover by 95%.
