AMRITSAR: Former Union minister Shashi Tharoor has said that INDIA bloc on forming the govt would reopen border trade with Pakistan and revise the 200% customs duty.

“As soon as a Cong govt is formed at the Centre, the trade corridor will be opened, the policy for customs duty will be revised and packages given to small-scale industries,” said Tharoor while interacting with local businessmen after campaigning in support of Congress Lok Sabha candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla here.
Trade with Pakistan came to a halt following the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, which led to imposition of a 200% customs duty on imports from the neighbouring country. The trading community has been advocating for the restoration of normal trade relations with Pakistan, especially since India has not severed diplomatic ties with the country.
Claiming that people were seeking change, Tharoor said the only transformation over the years has been not Hindutva but “Moditva.” Regarding the real estate sector, Tharoor slammed the policies made over the last 10 years, stating that they were influenced only by a few large corporations despite the real estate being relevant to small businesses across cities and towns.
