BARNALA: As like many in Punjab, SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has always put Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale at the forefront claiming him to be the biggest source of strength for the Sikhs. Either it is election or no election, Mann never shied away in flaunting the ideology of Sant Bhindrawale.
He preferred to lose elections but not at the cost of going away from Bhindrawale. On Sunday when Mann won from Sangrur Parliamentary constituency waiving Sant Bhindrawale flags was an obvious choice by his followers, who also not forget to follow noted singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moosewala in making thapi (putting hand on thigh and then raising a finger in the sky).
For some Sant Bhindrwale might have been militant or even terrorist but Simranjit Singh Mann always considered him as the biggest leader of Sikhs who did not discriminate between Sikhs and Hindus, said Mann. The credit for victory goes to Baba Bhindrawale apart from youths and Sidhu Moosewala, Deep Sidhu, he said after his victory in the bye election.
Bhindrawale has even been figured in Moosewala' latest song SYL, which was banned on Sunday.
At any Sikh congregation, the posters and T-shirts of Bhagat Singh and Sant Bhindrawale could be seen in plenty in Punjab.
