Punjab to meet PM
Narendra Modi to request his intervention in releasing the pending rural development funds (RDF) for the state.
The Punjab government had on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against the Centre over its refusal to pay statutory charges, including the RDF and Mandi Development Fee (MDF), to the tune of Rs 4,208 crore.
Sahney said the issue related to food grain procurement, farmers and the development of rural areas in Punjab and should not be viewed from a political prism.
A delegation of all the members of Parliament from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, irrespective of their party affiliations, should call on the PM to appeal to him for his intervention and release of pending RDF, said Sahney.
