Chandigarh: In the wake of rising theft cases in Manimajra, Sector 13, the resident welfare association of the area organised a joint meeting of the police and residents on Monday. More than 75 residents from categories 1 to 4 and duplex houses participated in an interactive session with station house officer (SHO), Sector 13, inspector Jaspal Singh and other police officers.
Colonel Gursewak Singh (Retd), president, RWA, Manimajra said that this meeting was a follow-up of a recent letter written to the SSP, Chandigarh requesting him to increase police patrolling in the area to check theft cases. He also urged residents to install CCTV cameras and employ a private security person in the cluster of blocks to supplement police efforts to control crime.
Inspector Jaspal Singh, SHO, Sector 13 police station said that some thieves had been arrested and stolen property had been recovered, which owners could collect from the police station. Other security issues which came up for discussion were parking of vehicles on pedestrian path within blocks as well as on main roads passing through MHC and speeding school buses, triple riding on bikes.
