Renuka Thakur gets grand welcome in Rohru after WC victory

Shimla: Indian fast bowler Renuka Thakur, who comes from Parsa village in Rohru area of Shimla district, received a rousing welcome from the people of the area when she returned to her home town on Sunday.Renuka, a member of the World Champion Indian women's cricket team, paid obeisance at the Hateshwari Mata Temple in Hatkoti upon her arrival. She was accompanied by her family members, including her mother.At Hatkoti Temple, her mother Sunita, brother Vinod, along with other family members and local residents, were present.Speaking to media persons, Renuka credited her mother and uncle for her success. "It is because of my mother's struggles that I reached this stage today. Credit also goes to my uncle (father's brother). If he didn't notice me at the right time and send me to the cricket academy, I wouldn't be here today."She added that the World Cup victory would definitely increase girls' interest in cricket.
