Punjab police busts Arsh Dalla's gang: two arrested, weapons seized
PATIALA: The police in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib claimed to have arrested two members of gangster Arsh Dalla's gang from Sirhind and recovered five country-made 32 bore pistols along with five live rounds. The third accused was brought on a production warrant from Patiala jail for further interrogation. The police also recovered one Activa and two mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahil and Gurkirat Singh, while Tejbir Singh was brought on a production warrant.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ravjot Grewal, disclosed that on Tuesday, the CIA team apprehended Sahil and Gurkirat Singh from Sirhind, following which a case under Section 25 of the Arms Act was registered at Sirhind Police Station.
"Gurkirat Singh recently returned from Malaysia in May 2024 after staying there for a year. Both accused, Gurkirat and Sahil, were working for gangster Arsh Dalla through Tejbir Singh, an inmate in Patiala Jail.
Tejbir Singh is imprisoned for murder and illegal arms-related cases. Sahil and Tejbir Singh are residents of the Siripura locality in Amritsar and are close associates. The police said that accused Tejbir Singh Sabu is an associate of gangster Arsh Dalla and was involved in a murder case and other major criminal activities in Amritsar", revealed police while adding that Tejbir was earlier also booked under the Arms Act at Amritsar Cantonment Police Station in 2022 and under sections of murder and UAPA at Jagraon police station, Ludhiana Rural.
The SSP said that the accused were supplying arms to execute criminal activities, but police intervention prevented any major incident. Tejbir Singh was brought from Patiala Jail for further interrogation, which is expected to reveal crucial information. Currently, all three accused are in police remand.
The forward-backward linkages of the illicit weapon delivery are under investigation, along with the purpose of procurement of such weapons by the accused and the targets assigned by the foreign handler Arsh Dalla, which are thoroughly investigated under the supervision of SP-D, Fatehgarh Sahib. This operation is a significant success in curbing the activities of gangsters and preventing violent crimes in Punjab" added SSP Ravjot Grewal.
