Police check CCTV cams of Pb shrines, caution priests
Chandigarh: Punjab Police checked the CCTV (closed-circuit television) cameras of all gurdwaras, temples, churches, and mosques over the weekend, besides alerting the priests, as part of a security review.The campaign covered all the 28 police districts. Special DGP (law and order) Arpit Shukla said all the commissioners and SSPs also had orders to hold security review meetings with the priests and managements of all the shrines, while the gazetted officers will meet religious groups such as Satkar Committee and Shiv Sena. Supervised by the inspector generals of police, the 698 police teams that comprised 4,000 cops checked 16,118 gurdwaras, 4,263 temples, 1,930 churches and 777 mosques.Special DGP Shukla advised the management committees of all the religious places to check their CCTV footage daily, test their cameras every week, and deploy guards at the gates. The police commissioners and the SSPs have orders to intensify patrolling around the religious places.
