MOHALI: The vigilance bureau on Saturday nabbed a

Mohali

police head constable for allegedly accepting a

bribe

of Rs 20,000 from a Bathinda resident.

The accused has been identified as Amarinder Singh, who is currently the reader of the DSP, Kharar.

Officials said Amarjit Singh, a resident of Aklia Jalal village, Bathinda, complained against the head constable.

Amarjit stated in his complaint against his maternal uncle, Joginder Singh, a resident of Kharar that he had prepared fake documents to take over the hereditary property of Hazoora Singh, Amarjit’s Singh maternal grandfather.

Amarinder Singh had allegedly asked for Rs 1,00,000 from the complainant that he would make sure that both the parties compromise and this was the first installment.

DSP, vigilance bureau, Harvinder Pal Singh, said, “A trap was laid on Saturday and the accused was nabbed red-handed.”
