May 31 last date to pay property tax, avail rebate: MC
Chandigarh: The municipal corporation Saturday issued a final appeal to all residential and commercial property owners to deposit their property tax by May 31 — the last date to avail rebate under the current assessment period.
According to provisions, property owners can avail a 20% rebate on residential property tax and 10% on commercial property tax if payment is made within the deadline.
Municipal commissioner Amit Kumar urged taxpayers to use the online payment system or visit Sampark centres to clear dues and benefit from the rebate. He said timely payment not only helps citizens save money but also supports the development and maintenance of civic infrastructure and public services.
Officials warned that after the expiry of the rebate period, defaulters will attract a 25% penalty along with 12% interest, according to rules.
The MC has urged all property owners to utilise this final opportunity and deposit their dues by May 31 to avoid penalties.
