Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former MLA, Bikram Singh Majithia, has filed a petition in the Amritsar district court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with an FIR registered against him at Majitha police station on May 31.Majithia's counsel, Arshdeep Singh Kaler, informed on Tuesday that the anticipatory bail petition had been filed before the district court and that the matter had been listed for hearing on June 10.The petition comes amid heightened political and legal attention surrounding the case. All eyes are now on the June 10 hearing, when the court will consider Majithia's plea for protection from arrest and grant of anticipatory bail.Majithia is accused of forcibly entering the Majitha police station to secure the release of Jobanpreet Singh from custody and obstructing public servants in the discharge of their official duties.Since the registration of the FIR, Majithia has remained untraceable, according to the police. Meanwhile, his political opponents have pasted "wanted" posters in parts of the Majitha constituency, seeking information about his whereabouts.
